Beach day and Birthday

Easter Monday is a big deal in Ghana, it is a holiday where many enjoy picnics and other festivities. The Etwene boys were no exception as they headed to the beach for a day of fun in the sun. It is such a blessing to be able to let these young men have days where they can just enjoy each other and do something they do not usually get to do.
Days of celebration for many of these young men have been a luxury that life could not always afford prior to their arrival and while it may seem a little unimportant to some, we are trying to establish a spirit of celebration and joy in these young men's lives. Jesus first miracle was at a celebration of marriage. He understood the importance of living a life of celebration and remembering the goodness of God in special ways. God has commanded times of feast, celebration, and remembrance since the law of Moses. He knows we need to have occasions to commemorate, to rest from our normal flow of life and have reasons to worship, laugh, play, gather with loved ones and remember how good HE is!
Last month we also had the joy of celebrating Kwaku's Birthday. If you ask most in Ghana if they had a good birthday they will usually say "It was normal" Rarely do they do much for birthdays but we want each of these young men to know that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. As we work to instill in them the truth about who they are in Christ we want to honor them and give thanks to God for knitting then together for a special purpose.

As we celebrate Kwaku I want to share a few things about this young man. He is a gentle soul! He cares deeply and thinks deeply!! He is very conscious of others and desires to please and honor them. He has deep questions about God's word and how it applies to his life. Kwaku works
