God's Word - living and active

Recently, our boys have started attending weekly in-person Bible Studies every Saturday morning at the Etwene house. A mentor has been guiding discussions and activities to encourage the boys to reflect more deeply on their daily readings throughout the week. In the future, we plan to have the boys take on leadership roles, with our mentors available to support and guide them in preparing to lead.

These Saturday morning discussions have already become a wonderful opportunity for engaging in deep conversations and applying practical skills learned in school to the study of scripture. We are currently exploring the Gospel of John, paying particular attention to Jesus' "I am Statements." While studying Jesus as the Light of the World, Ernest, our electrician, demonstrated how an electrical circuit works, illustrating the need for God to be our power source—the only true way to have Light in our lives. It's thrilling to see God's Word become more tangible and alive in each person's life as they pose challenging questions and grapple with doubts that will strengthen their faith, much like Jacob wrestled with God in Genesis. These challenges make our faith genuine, requiring us to choose trust even when we don't fully understand. God's Word becomes vibrant when we accept it as Truth and refrain from relying solely on our own understanding. It is in this acceptance that sparks of faith are fanned into a light that can ignite our worlds.

This weekend, all of our students and mentors will be traveling to attend the funeral of one of the boys' biological mothers. This has been a challenging time, providing an opportunity for them to contemplate what happens to believers and unbelievers according to God's Word, after departing from this physical world. We hope they will support the family and share the Hope of Christ as they remember and honor the life of a good woman. Please pray for their safety and that the family will not impose undue pressure and stress on the children as they mourn their mother. Pray that the boys will be an encouragement and a reflection of Christ to everyone they meet and in every situation.

Please continue to pray for these young men as they ponder and apply God's Word to their personal lives daily. Pray His Word will be lamp to their feet and Light to their paths.
